Wisdom Tooth Extraction Pasadena
Preventing Future Problems by Removing Unnecessary Teeth
When it comes to preserving your teenager’s future smile, there are many things our team can do to safeguard their oral health. However, one of the most common procedures or “rites of passage” teens may experience is wisdom tooth extraction. No longer necessary, these teeth may only partially erupt or remain impacted beneath the gumline. As a result, pain and potential problems may occur. By calling our office to schedule an appointment, we can ensure they will remain safe and comfortable throughout the removal process.

The Wisdom Tooth Extraction Process
Depending on the status of your teenager’s wisdom teeth, and whether they have partially erupted or are impacted, we will decide which method we will use to remove them.
For those that have partially erupted, we can perform a simple procedure. This uses a dental elevator to lift the tooth from its socket, then we gently move it back and forth until it comes loose from the connective tissues.
If your child’s wisdom teeth are impacted, we will need to perform a surgical procedure. It’s necessary that we open the gum tissue to reveal the underlying tooth. To avoid causing harm to the existing bone, we may decide to remove the tooth in sections. This will allow for a more comfortable and easier extraction process.
When finished, no matter the type of procedure your child receives, we will close the extraction site and apply gauze to reduce bleeding and encourage a blood clot to form.
